How to make it:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
- Add the warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a clean, oiled bowl and cover with a damp kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten it into a disk. Let the disks rest for 15 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 450F/230C and place your baking sheets or pizza stones in the oven to heat up.
- Once the disks have rested, place them on the hot baking sheets or pizza stones and bake for 5-7 minutes, until they puff up and become lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
Tips:
- For extra flavor, you can brush the pita bread with olive oil or sprinkle with za'atar or sesame seeds before baking.
- If you don't have a pizza stone, you can use an upside-down baking sheet instead.
Hummus
Hummus is a creamy dip made with chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and olive oil. It's perfect for dipping veggies, pita bread, or using as a spread on sandwiches.

- Measuring cups and spoons
- Garlic press
How to make it:
- Add the chickpeas, garlic, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper to a food processor or blender.
- Pulse until everything is well combined and the hummus is smooth and creamy. If the mixture is too thick, add a tablespoon of water at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and drizzle with olive oil.
Tips:
- You can add different herbs or spices to the hummus for a unique flavor twist. Try adding cumin, smoked paprika, or chopped fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro.

- Using a sharp, serrated knife, cut the baklava into diamonds or squares.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the edges are crispy.

- Let the baklava cool completely before serving.
Tips:
- For an extra special touch, garnish the baklava with chopped nuts or a sprinkle of cinnamon once it has cooled.
