Hey y'all! Today I'm gonna share with y'all my recipe for some bomb Lebanese Mountain Bread. This bread is perfect for dipping in hummus or using as a wrap for some tasty Mediterranean-style meals. Let's get started!

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

First things first, we gotta activate our yeast. In a bowl, mix together the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until the mixture gets all frothy and bubbly.

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the yeast mixture. Mix everything together until a dough forms.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until it doubles in size.

Tools:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Dough scraper
  • Baking stone or sheet pan

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece out into a thin, flat circle.

Heat up your baking stone or sheet pan in the oven or on the stovetop. Place one of the circles of dough onto the hot surface and cook for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until it starts to puff up and get some nice blistering.

Repeat with the remaining circles of dough until you've got yourself a stack of freshly cooked Lebanese Mountain Bread.

How to make:

  1. Mix warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix flour and salt in a separate bowl.
  3. Pour yeast mixture into the well of the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead dough for 5-10 minutes on a floured surface. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Divide dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each piece out into a thin circle.
  6. Cook on a hot baking stone or sheet pan for 1-2 minutes on each side.
  7. Repeat with remaining circles of dough.

Tips:

  • If your dough is too sticky, add a little bit more flour. If it's too dry, add a little bit more water.
  • For some extra flavor, you can add some herbs or spices into the dough or sprinkle some on top before cooking.
  • Don't overcook the bread or it will become too hard and crunchy. You want it to be nice and soft.

And there you have it, y'all! Some delicious and easy-to-make Lebanese Mountain Bread. Give it a try and let me know how it turns out!
