Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 cup warm water
  • Akkawi cheese
  • Nigella seeds

Tools:

How to make:

  1. Mix flour, yeast, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Add oil and mix well.
  3. Add warm water and mix until you have a smooth dough.

  6. Divide the dough into small balls.

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

How to make:

  6. Grease a skillet with butter.

Manaeesh

  1. Mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Add oil and mix well.
  3. Add warm water and mix until you have a smooth dough.
  4. Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Divide the dough into small balls.
  7. Roll each ball into a flat circle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Sprinkle Zaatar spice mix on top of the dough.
  9. Brush with olive oil.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the dough is golden brown.

Jareesh

  1. Boil the water with the chicken bouillon.
  2. Add the cracked wheat and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. In a skillet, sauté the onion in olive oil until golden brown.
  4. Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
  5. Stir in the tomato and cook for another 2 minutes.
  6. Combine the beef mixture with the cracked wheat and mix well.
  7. Serve hot.

Tips:

  • You can use different spice mixes for the Manaeesh, such as thyme or sumac.
